They work with individuals of all ages and physical skill levels, from beginner to expert. Fitness trainers need to be well-trained in order to be effective. Instructors often provide a DVD or video tutorial covering exercise science and basic body mechanics. There is no right or wrong answer, just as many variations in training. Everyone’s body is different so everyone’s workout will vary from that of another.
Next, some fitness training will require students to perform specific tasks under the direction of an instructor. These are sometimes called interval or circuit training sessions. Examples include sprinting, cycling, swimming, rowing, or a combination of any of these activities. Again, the goal of this type of physical fitness training is to enhance cardiovascular endurance, improve muscle tone, and increase stamina.
Some classes may also require that participants complete sets of repetitions or distance. In order to complete these workouts, participants must do aerobic exercise before working out and may also use resistance equipment like weights or pushups. The objective of completing these workouts is to burn more calories than the amount of exercise taken, to build more muscle, or to increase the amount of physical conditioning. If the goal of the class is to improve fitness or health, than the workouts should be designed to work in all of those areas.
Finally, some physical fitness trainers are certified in holistic or natural healing methods. These fitness trainers may incorporate yoga into their classes, for example. They may not use weights or machines, but will work on proper breathing techniques, meditation, visualization, or other alternative approaches to health and fitness. These classes are generally focused on achieving balance between mind, body, and spirit.
